WLED Support

I recently updated my room with WLED controlled lights for more customization. I would love to be able to integrate these lights with WLED either through a direct integration or added functionality with Home Assistant so I can have specific scenes setup for my teams.

    WLED support has been added.

It is now available inside the ConnectedRoom Hub as part of the 2.2.3 update.

Just an update: WLED support is still planned on ConnectedRoom OS and ConnectedRoom Hub, but for now, WLED support is well supported on our Home Assistant Integration.

Are there any tutorials on how to get this to work? I have been really struggling while waiting for the full support and ConnectedRoom OS.

WLED integration would be awesome. It would be cool if we could trigger a preset for scoring by different teams.

Question. Since WLED is running on local network, are you okay with having some kind of bridge running on your local network somewhere?

I am releasing ConnectedRoom OS soon and it will be supported on Raspberry Pi, and I can add a layer in the OS to allow to control local lights, like WLED.

WLED would be the first local integration of ConnectedRoom with the full support of the API features.

Let me know if this is something that you want to see implemented. Raspberry Pi images would provided.

So would that be a seperate bridge from the device running ConnectedRoomOS or would that bridge service run on the same device?

The “bridge” would be running ConnectedRoom OS that will allow it to control WLED locally.

It can be a RaspeberryPi 5 or 4B

I’ve got connectedroomOS installed on a MiniPC right now. Will that work or would I need a separate device. Not a big deal either way.

oh I did not know you did. That’s awesome!

The mini pc will be able to control the WLED and run the scoreboards at the same time.

It will even be able to stream audio to bluetooth devices in the next update.

The goal is to have a device running locally in your network so the app can control the devices you have at home that are not exposed to the internet, like WLED, or Bluetooth only lights, or any other things that I can think of next

Disregard my comment below. This was the explanation I was looking for!

While I’m dreaming, it would be nice if there were two lighting options.
Option 1: Default - ConnectedRoom uses the built in color scheme for the scoring team to create an effect on WLED. Maybe Give the user the ability to select: A pattern, and how long to run the pattern after the score (the question is if there would be an easy way to return to whatever colors were on WLED before)
Option 2: Allow the user to map actions to a preset on WLED. Like: When my favorite team scores a touchdown, trigger WLED preset 1 for 30 seconds. This would allow the user to program their won color scheme or pattern.

Yes, this is definitely possible using the WLED local API.

The rest of the ConnectedRoom features will be possible just like every other integrations. The WLED presets will be like Govee Scenes.

And the reset to previous state will also work because ConnectedRoom handles that for every light.

All that my software will do, is making the local WLED API accessible to ConnectedRoom, so it becomes a possible integration now that something is running on the local network.

To add to this request, if you could select different WLED scenes during different sound/action triggers. For example a red chase animation on an WLED strip would simulate a goal horn nicely. Then switching to the team color lights during the music that follows.

How do you get the OS install file?

Just seing this reply, yes I am totally fine with that and I think would work great. I run Home Assistant OS on a mini PC right now and thinking I could hopefully run it from that. Thank you so much for all of your active support!

Hi! Building a theatre room and was hoping to trigger custom lights and sounds using Alexa routines connected to a Sonos Port and a WLED light controller hooked up to cove LED strips. However, Im learning there is very little control over the timing of sound and light triggering with Alexa and it does not match up. I am VERY new to all of this and stumbled across connected room. Is there a overview thread or a document you would recommend that outines the basics for a newbie on how everything needs to be connected to work? That might help me to understand how the Raspberry PI would integrate into the setup and make everything work as I had hoped.
